Durham's most luxurious self-catering apartment - your questions answered
How do I make a reservation ?

us and tell us what dates you'd like.
What do I need to bring ?
Just your toothbrush. As you'd expect, crisp bed-linen and plush towels are
provided, and there are cosy robes to curl up in for a relaxing night. You'll be
pampered with exclusive toiletries, and welcomed with a basket of treats, snacks
and wine.
How near to Durham City centre is the Apartment ?
Our Apartment is right in the centre of Durham - 5 minutes walk from the Cathedral, University, Castle, Market Square and Town Hall.
Where can I park ?
There's a secure car park underneath the building, with a space reserved for
your use at no charge.
What's the arrangement of the beds ?
There are two bedrooms. Downstairs, the main bedroom has an exceptionally comfortable double bed designed in Milan with Art Deco inspirations. Up the spiral staircase from the living area is the second bedroom: this has two single beds which we will configure as a double if you'd like.
What's not allowed ?
To keep the apartment smelling lovely, we can't allow smoking or pets. To
preserve the décor, and in view of the open spiral staircase, we would also
advise against self-propelled children under 7.
Is there Air Conditioning, Heating and Ventilation ?
There's a high powered fan, which is as much cooling as the Durham climate
tends to require... and to keep you warm, there's fully controllable electric
heating. All the windows open safely for a breath of fresh air should you
require it.
Can I use my wheelchair ?
The front door can be reached from car park or street level by wheelchair
users without assistance. Once inside, the doorways are 32 inches (813 mm) wide.
The bathroom layout is not amenable to wheelchair access, and of course the
spiral staircase to the second bedroom would present something of a problem.

Is the apartment OK for my visual impairment ?
Outside, the public areas have a reasonable level of contrast between floors
and walls; there's voice announcement of lift position, and the route to the
front door is straightforward. Within the apartment there is a good level of
natural and artificial light without excessive glare. The door handles and light
switches are brass, and are reasonably well distinguished against light coloured
doors and walls.
How can you help people with hearing problems ?
There's a set of cordless headphones to use with the TV or sound systems
(useful for anyone who likes loud music late at night!), and the TVs all support
subtitled programmes.
How many apartments are there ?
There are two equally lovely apartments, Moonlight (sleeping up to 4 guests),
and Oasis (sleeping up to 3 guests).
Is there someone on site if I need them ?
Yes, there's always a member of our staff on call in case of problems using
the (free) phone in the apartment.
Is there something you're not telling me ?
Yes, probably - there's a lot more detailed information about Durham City,
the ideal location of Moonlight Apartment, and the 5-star equipment provided in
the Guest Guide in the Apartment. If you can't wait, you can download a copy here.
Inevitably the situation of the Apartment overlooking the street means
you'll sometimes be entertained by the raucous yelps of passing students. If you
prefer to be one step removed from this, our sister apartment Oasis may suit you better as
it's set back from the road yet in the same building.
